Connie Rebecca Barnette  March 28, 2006    

Connie Rebecca Barnette died peacefully on the evening of March 26, 2006 at Athens Regional Hospital.  Her mother and life companion, Rebecca Dawson (Becky) Barnette was at her bedside.

Connie was preceded in death by her father, James Milton Barnette, who died suddenly on December 26, 1950, when Connie was 9 years of age. 

Connie had a multitude of family and friends who supported and loved her.   She made a huge impact on many folks who came in contact with her over her 64 years of life.   She could not talk or walk but her presence was felt strongly in many areas.

Connie was a Special and Unique person who was loved by many.   She will be missed by many.  Connie loved church, family, friends and many others.  Reunions, church socials, birthdays, Christmas and family “get-togethers” were very important to her.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Union Christian Church, her lifetime church.  Rev. Phil Price, Dr. Diane Bales, Rev. Colette D. Hensley and Rev. Patrick Chandler will officiate.  Interment will be at Union Christian Church Cemetery in the square of her late father, Milton Barnette.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the “I’ll Try” Sunday School Class at Union Christian Church, including Sue Truluck and Wanda Maxey.

Survivors in addition to her mother include her uncle, Ruhl Dawson (Charlotte) of Watkinsville, aunts, Roberta Dawson Dellinger of Lexington, KY and Sunie Nell Dawson Stewart of Gainesville, FL; numerous cousins and numerous family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union Christian Church Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund, 1130 Union Church Road, Watkinsville, Georgia 30677

Billy Dawson     September 21, 2011      
Born: Mon Feb 1, 1932
Died: Tue Sep 20, 2011
Billy Jones Dawson, 79, of Watkinsville passed away on September 20, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospice.  He was born February 1, 1932 to the late Raymond  and Patty Jones Dawson.  He attended the University of Georgia where he received both his bachelors and masters degree in education.  He began his teaching career in Commerce, Georgia, moving to teach in Monroe and then retired from the Oglethorpe County Board of Education as Assistant Superritendent. He then taught night classes at the University of Georgia for a number of years.  He loved to teach and is remembered by many of his students.  Along with teaching, Mr. Dawson also enjoyed music and cooking.
Mr. Dawson is survived by his brother, Ned Dawson and Jean; nieces and nephews: Mark Dawson and Lisa, Patti Clark and Ken, Hailey and Harrison Clark and Jeff Dawson; long time friend Dr. Roy Ward and caregivers Perla and Frank Ramos and Christina and Juan Ortega.  He is also survived by numerous cousins.  Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by his parents Raymond A. Dawson and Patty Jones Dawson; a twin sister Betty Jean Dawson and a brother James Edd Dawson.
A graveside service will be held for Mr. Dawson on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Union Christian Church Cemetery.  Visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Christian Church Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund.

Roy E. Dawson    September 24, 1999   
Farmington
   Roy E. Dawson, 93, of 1031 Mayne Mill Road, died September 22, 1999.
   A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, he was a son of the late Cliff and Hassie Daniell Dawson. He was retired after 38 years of employment with Southern Piedmont Experiment Station. Mr. Dawson was a member of Freeman Creek Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.
   Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 1999, at 3:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, West. Revs. Charles Giles and Darrell Gilmer will officiate. Interment will be in Farmington Cemetery.
   Survivors include his wife, Anabel Lay Dawson of Farmington; daughter and son in law, Elaine and Tommy Cape of Watkinsville; sisters, Becky Barnette, Selna Kate Dickens, and Roberta Dellinger, all of Watkinsville; Sunie Nell Stewart of Alachua, FL; brother and sister in law, Rhul and Charlotte Dawson of Watkinsville; a number of nieces and nephews.
   Pallbearers will be Wendell Dawson, Dan Dawson, David Dawson, Randy Dawson, Doug Dickens, Mark Dawson, James Lance and Jonny Lay.
   The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Farmington Cemetery Trust Fund, PO Box 767 Farmington Ga 30638.
   Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, West, is in charge of arrangements.


James (Terry) Dawson           Monday, July 1, 2002


   James Terry Dawson, 60, died Saturday, June 29, 2002.
   A native of Oconee County, Mr. Dawson was a son of the late Rayford T. and Lois Terry Dawson. He was a former resident of Greene County, was an army veteran and was a retired dairy and poultry farmer.
   Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Arthur Bowick's Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Keith Weekley, Carlton Shelton and Doug Job officiating. Burial will be in Union Christian Church cemetery.
   Survivors include a daughter, Kris Hunt, Clarkesville; two sons, Ray Dawson, Arnoldsville, and Richard Dawson, Union Point; four sisters, Phyllis Maddox, Bishop, Barbara Garrett, Statham, Dianne Daniel and Margaret Hale, both of Watkinsville; three brothers, Dan Dawson, Bishop, Wendell Dawson and David Dawson, both of Watkinsville; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
   Memorials may be made to Union Christian Church Cemetery Fund or the American Diabetes Association.

Aunt Selena Kate Dawson Dickens, ( Mrs. F. F. Jr.) 4300 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677, died at her home this morning around 8:00 AM after a long bout with cancer.   Arrangements to be announced later.  She was a member of Union Christian Church, 1130 Union Church Road, Watkinsville, where her son, Fred Wayne; husband, Fonnie (Pooster); parents, Cliff & Hassie Dawson, and many other relatives are buried.

2014 Dawson Family Reunion

DAWSON FAMILY REUNION 2014
JULY 27   -     12:30 P.M.
UNION CHRISTIAN CHURCH

The reunion is annually held on the last Sunday in July.

The Cliff & Hassie Dawson family will gather on Sunday, July 27, 2014 in the Fellowship Hall of Union Christian Church for its 45th Annual Reunion. It will be a time of family-friendly fellowship, celebration, sharing of a meal and photos. 
This year we are again meeting immediately following Union’s worship for our reunion. We encourage able family members to attend the service. Flowers will be placed in Union’s sanctuary that day in memory of Cliff & Hassie Dawson.
If you plan to attend your own place of worship that morning, please arrive as soon as possible. We will begin the meal at 12:30. During the reunion we will share in our meal and take care of necessary business details.
There is a Facebook page for you to share with your loved ones (search for Cliff & Hassie Dawson Family). 
Please bring food to share and tea or lemonade (some sugar-free would be appropriate).  All paper items and utensils will be furnished. Food may be dropped off in the Fellowship Hall before or after worship.   If you have questions, please contact us at:

Update from Dorothy Sue's family

The following was posted to the Cliff & Hassie Dawson Facebook group by Amy Anglin Kangiser. 
"My mom(DorothySue)and I will miss seeing everyone, but we will not be able to attend the reunion. We also wanted to announce that my daughter Katie and her husband Tony are the proud parents of a sweet baby girl. Her name is Kinley Savannah,she was born May 28 at the Henry Piedmont Hospital. We are all so excited and we know our GG (SaraSue) would be thrilled! Also on other family updates from SaraSue's family... Jim and his wife Marisol have moved to Jacksonville,Florida. Jim is practicing at The Mayo Clinic and Marisol works for the Baptist hospital in Geriatrics. Mike and Debbie are still in Chesapeake, Virginia where Mike works as a Nuclear Engineer for the Naval shipyard. AshleySue is attending Tidewater College in Norfolk. I am working for the Newton County schools. My mom is doing great and Uncle James is well also. In July we all met for a family vacation in Jacksonville and enjoyed Jim's new home."

2013 Renunion Details ~ New Location

The Cliff and Hassie Dawson family will gather on Sunday, July 28, 2013 in the Fellowship Hall of Union Christian Church for its 44th Annual Reunion.  It will be a time of family-friendly fellowship, celebration, sharing of a meal and photos.  
This year we are meeting immediately following Union’s worship for our annual reunion. As discussed at last year’s reunion, we encourage able family members to attend the service. Flowers will be placed in Union’s sanctuary that day in memory of Cliff and Hassie Dawson.
