James Terry Dawson, 60, died Saturday, June 29, 2002.
A native of Oconee County, Mr. Dawson was a son of the late Rayford T. and Lois Terry Dawson. He was a former resident of Greene County, was an army veteran and was a retired dairy and poultry farmer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Arthur Bowick's Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Keith Weekley, Carlton Shelton and Doug Job officiating. Burial will be in Union Christian Church cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Kris Hunt, Clarkesville; two sons, Ray Dawson, Arnoldsville, and Richard Dawson, Union Point; four sisters, Phyllis Maddox, Bishop, Barbara Garrett, Statham, Dianne Daniel and Margaret Hale, both of Watkinsville; three brothers, Dan Dawson, Bishop, Wendell Dawson and David Dawson, both of Watkinsville; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Union Christian Church Cemetery Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
Connie Rebecca Barnette March 28, 2006
Connie Rebecca Barnette died peacefully on the evening of March 26,
2006 at Athens Regional Hospital. Her
mother and life companion, Rebecca Dawson (Becky) Barnette was at her bedside.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, James Milton Barnette,
who died suddenly on December 26, 1950, when Connie was 9 years of age.
Connie had a multitude of family and friends who supported and
loved her. She made a huge impact on
many folks who came in contact with her over her 64 years of life. She could not talk or walk but her presence
was felt strongly in many areas.
Connie was a Special and Unique person who was loved by many. She will be missed by many. Connie loved church, family, friends and many
others. Reunions, church socials, birthdays,
Christmas and family “get-togethers” were very important to her.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM at
Union Christian Church, her lifetime church.
Rev. Phil Price, Dr. Diane Bales, Rev. Colette D. Hensley and Rev. Patrick
Chandler will officiate. Interment will
be at Union Christian Church Cemetery in the square of her late father, Milton
Barnette.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the “I’ll Try” Sunday
School Class at Union Christian Church, including Sue Truluck and Wanda Maxey.
Survivors in addition to her mother include her uncle, Ruhl Dawson
(Charlotte) of Watkinsville, aunts, Roberta Dawson Dellinger of Lexington, KY
and Sunie Nell Dawson Stewart of Gainesville, FL; numerous cousins and numerous
family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from
6:00 until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union Christian
Church Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund, 1130 Union Church Road, Watkinsville,
Georgia 30677

Billy Jones
Dawson, 79, of Watkinsville passed away on September 20, 2011 at St. Mary's
Hospice. He was born February 1, 1932 to the late Raymond and Patty
Jones Dawson. He attended the University of Georgia where he received both
his bachelors and masters degree in education. He began his teaching
career in Commerce, Georgia, moving to teach in Monroe and then retired from
the Oglethorpe County Board of Education as Assistant Superritendent. He
then taught night classes at the University of Georgia for a number of
years. He loved to teach and is remembered by many of his students.
Along with teaching, Mr. Dawson also enjoyed music and cooking.
Mr. Dawson is
survived by his brother, Ned Dawson and Jean; nieces and nephews: Mark Dawson
and Lisa, Patti Clark and Ken, Hailey and Harrison Clark and Jeff Dawson; long
time friend Dr. Roy Ward and caregivers Perla and Frank Ramos and Christina and
Juan Ortega. He is also survived by numerous cousins. Mr. Dawson
was preceded in death by his parents Raymond A. Dawson and Patty Jones Dawson;
a twin sister Betty Jean Dawson and a brother James Edd Dawson.
A graveside
service will be held for Mr. Dawson on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM
at Union Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to Union Christian Church Perpetual Care
Cemetery Fund.

E. Dawson, 93, of 1031 Mayne Mill Road, died September 22, 1999.
A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, he was a son of the late Cliff and Hassie Daniell Dawson. He was retired after 38 years of employment with Southern Piedmont Experiment Station. Mr. Dawson was a member of Freeman Creek Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.

Dawson of Farmington; daughter and son in law, Elaine and Tommy Cape of
Watkinsville; sisters, Becky Barnette, Selna Kate Dickens, and Roberta

sister in law, Rhul and Charlotte Dawson of Watkinsville; a number of nieces
and nephews.

Dawson, David Dawson, Randy Dawson, Doug Dickens, Mark Dawson, James Lance and
Jonny Lay.
The family will receive friends Thursday
evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
